Create Online with Kids at Art

We offer live, interactive online art classes that bring the Kids at Art experience into your home.

Our classes closely mirror our in-studio sessions, with thoughtfully designed projects and clear, step-by-step instruction for young artists of all ages. Children create alongside classmates in our Zoom Online Studio, exploring new projects each session. Some projects draw inspiration from well-known artists, while others are imagined and developed together.

Adults are welcome to join and create as well, making these classes a fun and engaging shared experience!

More Information

Class Structure

Each online class is led by a Kids at Art instructor and closely follows the structure of our in-studio sessions. As children enter the online studio, they are greeted by the instructor and guided through the session from start to finish.

Classes are live and interactive. Instructors provide clear demonstrations and ongoing guidance throughout each project, and students are encouraged to share their work using video and audio. This allows instructors to offer feedback and support in real time, creating an engaging and connected online experience.

For ages 5 to 6, students typically complete one project per session. For ages 7 and up, some projects may continue over two or more sessions. Because classes are mixed-age, older students are offered optional challenges and extensions to take each project further.

Art Supplies

Below is a list of recommended supplies for our online classes. If you don’t have everything on hand, that’s okay. We’ll help you adapt using what you have at home.

  • Pencil, Eraser (Pink Pearl or any other)
  • Markers – At least one black marker.
  • Paper – a 12”x18” sketchbook is good but if not, 9”x12” is fine too
  • Scissors
  • A watercolor set. Any brand is fine.
  • Tempera paints or acrylic paints if you have them
  • Two paint brushes – 1 small and 1 larger
  • Oil Pastels or Crayons
  • Glue Stick and/or Elmers White Glue All
  • Any other art materials you might have around the house, i.e., newspaper, tissue paper, glitter, buttons, gemstones, etc.

Additional supplies can be ordered from blick.comsaxarts.com, or, of course, amazon.com.

Accessing the Online Studio

If this is your first time using Zoom on a computer or tablet, please allow about 15 minutes before your first class to click the Enter Online Studio button and follow the prompts to download and set up the software.

Once Zoom is installed, joining class is simple. Click the Enter Online Studio button about five minutes before your scheduled class time. Please make sure your Zoom display name matches the name used during registration, as this helps us identify and admit students promptly.

All Kids at Art online classes take place in the same Zoom studio, so you’ll use the same access method each time.

When class begins, students will see the instructor and other participants on screen. To minimize distractions, instructors may mute microphones at times, but students can always unmute themselves to ask questions or participate.
