5 Summer Art Festivals You Must See

Summer is the perfect time to get out and explore. Whether you’re traveling somewhere abroad or staying local, there are art festivals of all types that you can check out to get your dose of sunshine and creativity.

1. Venice BiennaleMay 26 – November 25
Tourists come from far and wide to visit this international festival of architecture. This year’s theme is “Freespace,” will “present for public scrutiny examples, proposals, elements – built or unbuilt – of work that exemplifies essential qualities of architecture which include the modulation, richness and materiality of surface; the orchestration and sequencing of movement, revealing  the embodied power and beauty of architecture.” The beautiful setting and unique works make this a festival for your bucket list!
The Galway International Arts Festival is rated one of the top 5 festivals in Europe! The festival covers a range of art forms, including theatre, dance, music, opera, street spectacle, visual arts, discussion and comedy. 3. NYC Poetry Festival – July 28 – 29
Venture over to Governor’s Island for a poetry festival to remember! With 250 poets presenting on 5 stages over the course of 2 days, the NYC Poetry Festival units the largest community of poets in an enjoyable summer setting.
 
4. Mystic Outdoor Art FestivalAugust 11 – 12
Mystic, Connecticut has a lot more than just pizza! Stop by the 61st annual Mystic Outdoor Art Festival to see art from over 230 artists, and mediums including oils, watercolors, photographs, sculptures, comics and more.
 
5. Huntington Summer Arts FestivalJune 26 – August 12
If you’re heading out to Long Island this summer, the Huntington Summer Arts Festival is a great destination, bringing a roster of exciting performing artists to the stage at  Heckscher Park. Artists and ensembles include award winning, world-class talent in music, dance and theatre from around the globe, as well as the finest performing arts groups from Huntington and Long Island.
