4 Exhibits to See in NYC Now

There’s always a new exhibit or art show to see in NYC, and we can’t think of a better time to see one, than a chilly winter afternoon. Here’s a list of exhibits that you should see this week!

1. Salvo

Gladstone 64, 130 East 64th Street, New YorkSalvo has a unique, avant-garde style featuring landscapes and cities. His artwork showcases light in passageways in different imaged landscapes using vibrant oil paints. You can see some examples of his work by clicking here.

2. Jackie Saccoccio, Femme Brut

Chart, 74 Franklin Street, New YorkJackie Saccoccio has a 21st century modern style featuring bold and vibrant layers of dripped paint across large canvases. This exhibition is featured across two venues and is inspired by feminism. Her style is unique and heavily dependent on the large scale that emphasizes the artist’s emotions in each piece. 

3. Jordan Kasteel: Within Reach

New Museum, 235 Bowery Street, New YorkJordan Kasteel creates large-scale portraits of distinctive characters that are overlooked: characters on the subway, on the street, or huddling in doorways in New York City. This exhibit features 40 pieces that she has created throughout her career. This is her first solo exhibit in New York City.

4. Amy Sillman: The Shape of Shape

MoMA, 11 West 53rd Street, New YorkThis exhibit was curated by artist Amy Sillman, who was inspired by the role of shape in the creation of art. She has selected 75 pieces from artists including Jasper Johns and and Marcel Duchamp in a salon-style installation at the MoMA.
